MTN foundation says it will sponsor 50 youth entrepreneurs in the digital environment, Google, Oracle, and other ICT areas with N2 million each. Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation Odunayo Sanya, who spoke when her team visited the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sport in Abuja, said the beneficiaries were taken through eight weeks business training and about 75 were qualified but 50 of them would be sponsored to the tune of N2 million each.
She said they have trained up to 500 youths and want to scale up the number, adding that they have set aside a pool where money goes to, to fund the programme. “MTN Nigeria continues to do a lot of things for Nigerian youths. For obvious reasons, the bulk of our population is the youth, so we have decided to support science and technology sponsorship through which we have been able to sponsor over 9,000 youths across Nigeria.
We decided to come up with a youth entrepreneurship development programme where the youths come with pictures of what they want to do and we support them.
