 Title: UKRI GCRF seeking Applications for Digital Innovation for Development in Africa

Application Deadline Date: 12-Nov-2019

Grant Award: At stage one of the call UKRI expects to make 15-20 awards of between £100,000 – £150,000 over 12 months to seed fund Networks.

At stage two, Networks awarded in stage one will be invited to bid into a second call in 2020 with up to £19M available across six to eight projects over 3 years.

About the Grant: The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is seeking applications for Digital Innovation for Development in Africa (DIDA).Digital research and innovation for development promotes the use of digital technologies as a democratised and decentralised means to approach development challenges.

Title: Apply Now for Adelante Reporting Initiative Fellowship – Mexico-Guatemala Cross-Border.

About the Grant: As part of the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) Latin America reporting initiative, Adelante, five pairs of journalists will travel to Tapachula, Mexico and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala from March 2 – 17, 2020. All reporting fellows will begin their trip in Mexico City on March 2 where they will complete a four-day Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT) course from March 3 – 6. Fellows will then depart for the Mexico-Guatemala border for nine days of reporting in Tapachula, Mexico and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and the surrounding areas.

About the Grant:
The focus of this reporting trip is to generate media coverage of under-reported issues in El Salvador and to promote new narratives in the international media. Fellows will have the opportunity to network with other journalists, report collaboratively with their teammates and peers, and gain access to a variety of sources and sites related to their reporting. The feasibility of trips outside of the base location in El Salvador will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and determined by IWMF security protocols. Any travel must be within a three-hour radius of the base location.

About the Grant: The objective of this scholarship is to generate coverage on important issues that normally do not receive sufficient attention in El Salvador, and promote new narratives in international media. During the trip, the scholars will have the opportunity to report as a team, work in collaboration with other journalists and access different sources and sites related to their stories. The possibility of trips outside their central location will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and will be determined in accordance with the IWMF security protocols.

Title: 2019 Knowledge Management Fund to diversify Thinking and Evidence in the Security & Rule of Law

Grant Award: The KMF is a €300,000 annual fund that awards grants of up to €15,000 for events, research ideas and other initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of knowledge generated by the SRoL field, and its subsequent uptake.
